In order to keep the temperature in the firebox to a safe level, there must be a way to release the heat from the top of the box. We have two options available. The front vent has an arched hood (unseen behind the wall) that comes out above the surround and is covered by a grill that is provided with the kit. The two hole vent consists of a top with two holes (unseen behind the wall) that standard dryer hose can be attached to and can be vented anywhere above the opening of the firebox, but below ceiling level using regular heat register covers (not provided with the box). The vents must be in the same room as the appliance in order for the safety devises on the units to work correctly!
