To fully
appreciate this message you should be familiar with the debate that
is going on among leaders and laity over whether we should use the law
of the Lord to convert the soul. Discussions for future synod
resolutions can not build on the language of Resolution 6 at the request
of Unity Synod.(
For Now
) The approach
that many fear will come from R-6 proponents is a more general call for
the Moravian Church to resolve, by legislation, that it should not teach
that "repentance"
is the motivation for a decision for Christ. It seems they want to remove any
stigma that may come with an acknowledgement
that we are sinners.
Ray Comfort's message is to
individuals, pastors and Churches. He offers nondenominational insight
on how to win souls for Christ the old fashion way! The way that Spurgeon,
Wesley, Luther and Christ himself used to win converts. He simply allows the
law of the Lord to convert souls.
Ray observes how many churches
today are focusing their messages on a God of Grace that will save everyone on
judgment day without the life changing transformation that comes from knowing
and acknowledging ones own sin.
Ray offers an explanation of why
Churches who have record numbers of "decisions for Christ" seem to have the
greatest turnovers. These churches have scripted a message that emphasizes the
earthly advantages that a relationship with Christ might bring like an easier,
more prosperous life, better relationships and a better community even world
peace. Converts who are attracted to this "nonrepentant" view of "relationship with
Christ" can quickly become disillusioned when they are betrayed by a friend or
the minister leaves or they experiences difficulties and trials in their
lives.
Why are so many churches and
ministers hesitant to allow the "WORD" to convert souls?
When I first read the
transcript I immediately contacted the individual who shared it with me with
one comment "This is a slam dunk". It so precisely hits the target on
evangelical concern that the message of the Bible is methodically being
removed from our attempts to win converts because of offensive and
convictive language towards sin.
